Day 3

On Monday, we set out on Captain Skip's Fishing Adventure. We went on Captain Skip's Nature Tour last summer, and both Andrew and Olivia insisted upon spending a few hours with Skip again this trip. We went shrimping and then used our catch as bait. It was even more enjoyable than the Nature Tour which speaks volumes. Very seldom do we encounter individuals who are great with our quiet, reserved kiddos. Skip was perfect with them. He has a true gift. I am tearing up just thinking about the time our family spent with this incredible, free-spirited man.

A dolphin, Mr. Friendly, is often found taking advantage of the by-catch.
Skip is helping Andrew and Olivia identify the day's catch.  They then use sticks to push the unwanted critters back into the water.  Mr. Friendly was anxiously waiting for a morning snack.
Andrew was really excited to hold a live, ink filled squid.

We spent an hour reeling in pinfish, croaker fish (they actually make a croaking sound), catfish, and one flounder.
Olivia eventually found the courage to independently fish.  Skip was great to help her.  He reminded me (thankfully) to take a photo of her first independent catch.  I was too busy catching my own fish to remember to snap photos.  In fact, I didn't manage to capture a single one of Andrew's fish.  Bad mother alert!
Did I mention that I caught a flounder?  I didn't rub it in at all.  (ha)  Thankfully, I managed to convince Scott to let him go.  He was determined to clean and cook this poor fella for dinner.
I snapped a photo of our least favorite activity (truly the only negative to our trip)....carrying everything to the condo each evening.  Olivia came up with the idea of pulling all the sand toys on our boogie boards.
This might just have been one of my favorite days EVER!
