The moment when

....time stands sitll
....what was is but a distant memory
....thoughts that were at the forefront of your mind fade
....your heart skips a beat and tears roll down your face
....God feels so close yet so far away
....you stop taking for granted what you treasure most
....the decisions you faced moments before seem to pale in comparison
....an average day turns into a really bad one
....your dog yelps and exists the woods walking on 3 legs
....the vet explains your options and none of them are okay
....you try to unemotionally explain the situation to your sensitive babies (after practicing countless times in your head), and the hidden meaning in your words is uncovered and sobbing follows
....pretending to be a dog disliker isn't working
....the abundance of love is undeniable because it is perfectly reflected in the immense pain
....you realize just how important a 4 legged creature can be to five 2 legged creatures
....your energetic, incredibly happy, loyal, adventurous puppy will never be the same
....goodbye is more than just a 7 letter word

Praying that God will give us clarity, wisdom, and peace as we decide the best of the worst options for our Skippy Lou.

A Month of Real Christmas

I always end the month of December with a lot of photos, and absolutely no blog posts.  I decided last week to take at least one photo a day of "real" Christmas.  My house is likely to be half decorated and messy in the photos, but that is life.

November 29- I bought the biggest tree this side of Texas from a garage sale for $30 this summer.  The kind fella assured me that all the lights were working.  Let's just say that Scott spent a solid 12 hours working on the lights.  We only had to replace 3 strings of lights before calling it a day.

November 30- Andrew and Olivia couldn't wait to decorate the tree with Jax.

December 1- We traveled to Columbia, MO where we visited with Jaxson's birth family.  We made a stop at the Magic Tree.  It was breathtakingly beautiful.

December 2- Our family received the very best Christmas present.  We had an 8:30 a.m. appointment at the court house to finalize Jaxson Man's adoption.

December 3- Since our kiddos are in the "know", we told them that the crazy, ridiculous elf would not be returning this year.  They decided that they would like to take turns moving him each night.  This is what Oli Goose came up with for her first night.  Si, our elf, is in the middle of a gymnastics competition.  I love his one of a kind duct tape leotard.

December 5- Jax loves the Christmas tree.  Skipper loves the Jax Man.

Yuck.  I seriously smack this dog's snout at least 50 times a day for trying to kiss the baby.  He doesn't even care.

December 6- We had our very first snow day.

December 7- If you look very closely, you should be able to spy 6 of the 7 critters that live in our home.

Warning: I don't think that it would be in your best interest to come off as a threat to this baby.

I have an entire list of creative captions for this photo.  However, I will keep them to myself in an attempt to steer clear of becoming a notorious "cat" woman.

A Month of Thankfulness Day 23

I am thankful for my in-laws who agreed to watch this fella for a few days.  Trust me...it is exhausting!

I overheard Olivia whisper in her sweetest voice, "Skipper, all puppies were tutus!"
Andrew, on the other hand, just about had a meltdown when he saw his dog wearing pink.

Backyard Camp-Out

Daddy surprised you both last Friday by putting up the super large tent in the backyard. It was almost successful. However, Our protective Skipper would bark EVERY time a door would open or light would flash. Camping in the city isn't easy.

Last Day of Spring Break

The kiddos decided that waiting around to play outside in the sunshine was over-rated.
They geared up to play in the rain (or should I say, mud).

We woke up to a SURPRISE snow yesterday (while on spring break).
You were so very excited! We couldn't even convince Skipper to go out into the wet mess.
I must say that the snowflakes were gigantic.
Spring? Spring? Where are ya?

It has been a quiet week at the Holman house.
A lot of time has been spent cleaning up after this critter.
We have really enjoyed having daddy work from home (which has led to rearranging the basement). One of us (O) hasn't seemed to mind the cooler temperatures. Last night, we watched the shuttle launch which appeared to make A and O nervous.
I wonder who they take after....?
