Father/Daughter Dance 2016

Scott and Olivia attended their 6th father/daughter dance at Cornerstone Academy.  It is hard to believe that we have been building traditions around this very special event for that long. In fact, I clearly remember the details that led up to the very first dance...the dress, the hair, the jewelry, the flowers...

This year's theme was "A Night Under the Sea".  We tried the whole beach theme, but the cowgirl always manages to come out in this darlin'.   You can't tell from the photos, but cowgirl boots were
definitely involved.

An "insider" sent me a few photos of this year's Daddy/Daughter Dance.

Daddy/Daughter Dance 2014

Scott and Olivia attended their fourth Daddy/Daughter Dance at CA.  It is incredibly hard for me to believe how grown up she looked this year.  Scott added a basketball charm to her bracelet this year.  She insisted that her hair resemble Elsa's coronation hair in Frozen.  Believe it or not, this was the easiest up-do that I have attempted to date.

Daddy/Daughter Dance 2013

Last night, Scott and Olivia attended their third Daddy/Daughter Dance which just so happened to be a Masquerade Ball.

Scott ordered Oli a charm bracelet and a heart shaped daughter charm.  He plans to add a charm every year.  She was incredibly proud of her new piece of jewelry.

(BTW...I did her hair all by myself.)

In this photo, she is overcompensating for her fake smiles.
Notice her nails.  She insisted that one hand be painted turquoise and the other be painted purple.

It was such a special evening for all of us.  Scott commented that this was his favorite dance yet.  Olivia told me that she felt beautiful, and I managed to do all the "girly" things without having a mental breakdown.

As I look through the photos, I tear up thinking about how much she has grown the past 3 years.  I am confident that next year she will have lost her 2 front baby teeth, have grown several inches taller, and be more aware of who God has created her to be.  SO thankful for my sweet Oli Grace!

On the other hand, Andrew stated at dinner that he is very glad that he isn't a girl.  This getting dressed fancy to go to school to dance sounds like an evening of torture to him.

Dance Recital 2012

"Personality"

These photos were taken during the dress rehearsal (hence the pink curlers).

This has been an exciting, busy week.

Olivia had her last dance class for the season.  Recital is Saturday night.
Andrew had Cub Scout Fishing Camp 3 nights this week.  I actually attended with him on Wednesday while Scott was at church.  I was once again reminded how much I love being a girl.  They shot paint balls with a slingshot, had a casting competition, fished (and fished some more), and shot BB guns.

There were several moments when I realized that Andrew was really missing his daddy.  However, overall I think that I passed.

On another note, we completed our home-study today.  Now, we wait!

Tuesday night was photo night at Olivia's dance studio.  I did feel a little like a pageant mom caking the make-up on her face and plastering her hair with about a can of hairspray.  However, she loved it.  In fact, she begged me not to wash her face before bed.

I simply love the following photos.  I couldn't decide on just one...so I posted all of them.

Simply fantastical if I do say so myself!
