I put together a display for Memorial Day/4th of July using all garage sale/thrift store treasures.    

 Olivia even participated in the decorating.  She independently wrote "Weckum" (aka Welcome) on the outside chalkboard.  So sweet!

Spring Decor

I have become obsessed with decorating my entertainment center for all holidays while "spending less". It makes me think ahead and outside of the box. Everything I used was purchased at a thrift store with the exception of the colored eggs. (I splurged on them.)It is amazing what can happen with a can of spray paint. I decided to share in hopes that it might spark your creativity. I, for one love looking at what others create.

I just about went insane making these eggs (pinterest). 

I found these super fun birdhouses on clearance at Michael's yesterday for 45 cents each.  

I love the bright colors.

How have you decorated for spring?

Olivia's room got a little make over last week.  She decided that it just wasn't pink enough.  Thankfully, I managed to convince her that one pink wall would be perfect.  

 I saw this idea several years ago and loved it.

I managed to purchase all of the embroidery hoops at a thrift store for approximately $3.00.

I used random fabric scraps (including out grown clothing) that I had around the house.  

I painted the mirror, shelf, and chair pink.

 I spotted this dated reading lamp at a store for $2.00. 

It was screaming potential.  I did have to rescue it from our garbage too.  (Thanks Scotty)

We both love it!  Now, if only it would stay clean!

New Year's Mantel

I had no intention of decorating for New Year's until my sweet friend starting pinning New Year's ideas on pinterest.  Needless to say, I felt inspired. 

I only spent $2.00!  I found the stars (which were painted in a folk art pattern) at a thrift store for $1.50, and I spent $.50 on the blue and silver ornaments.  A and I made the trees and garland out of old books that were in our give-away pile.

I don't like to clean just decorate!  It is a problem!
