Fraidy Cat in Heaven

A few weeks ago, I was singing to Jax.

Everybody ought to know..
Everybody ought to know..
Everybody ought to know who Jesus is.

This led to my sharing the plan of salvation.  Of course, I really spent a lot of time describing Heaven.  I then proceed to ask Jax if he wanted to go to Heaven.  His eyes got as big as saucers and the most adorable smile filled his entire face.  Without hesitation, he responded, "YES!  I want to go get my Fraidy back!"

I do too buddy.  I do too.

This is the Life {3}

*Last Friday, we were faced head on with the decision to end Fraidy's suffering by putting him to sleep.  This was a decision that we spent months contemplating.  His condition seemed to improve over the summer, but spiraled  downward once the moving boxes began lining the bare walls.  It has been a difficult, emotional week to say the least.  Tears have been shed daily.

I snapped this photo seconds before Scott gently placed him in the crate.  It was almost as if he knew we were saying our final good-bye.  I am confident that I have been loved by few people more than this kitty.

*Last week, we had a sewer inspection at our current home. The inspectors quickly called me downstairs to view the video footage and to break some bad news. A large root had managed to grow completely through our sewer pipe. They prepared me for at least $2,000 worth of repairs. The next step in correcting this problem was to have the sewer lines cleaned so that they could get footage to the main allowing us to determine how much of the sewer pipes would have to be replaced. The Roto Rooter man told me that he ran into at least 3 roots while cleaning the pipes. The inspectors returned one afternoon last week, and we were prepared for the worst. They once again called us downstairs to view the new footage as well as previous recorded footage. There was no sign of any holes in our sewer lines. We were able to share our faith because the only explanation was a miracle. Our house PASSED the sewer inspection.

*Two days before school started, we broke down and bought Andrew new size 9 tennis shoes.  Less than 2 months later, we broke down and bought Andrew new size 10 tennis shoes.  I think his college fund is being quickly depleted in order to buy groceries.

Sweet Memories {30}

Some crazy woman decided to buy the largest possible water guns for these two silly children.  She quickly regretted that decision.

Olivia is already planning J Man's Sesame Street first birthday party.  Of course, she was insistent upon making an Elmo pinata.

Every afternoon, Jaxson tries to steal Andrew's school binder.  It is a daily struggle between brothers.

Yep...they are both licking his leg.

Warning: I don't think that it would be in your best interest to come off as a threat to this baby.

I have an entire list of creative captions for this photo.  However, I will keep them to myself in an attempt to steer clear of becoming a notorious "cat" woman.

I am so very proud of this sweet girl! She is thriving in 1st grade. In fact, we have started reading "chapter" books. She has been a super speller EVERY week.
I found this drawing in her backpack.  She drew her favorite weekend memory which was setting off Chinese floating lanterns with Andrew and Abigail.  I love how they are wearing matching red, white, and blue outfits.  She was quick to point that out to me.
She has also been spending A LOT of time carrying around her "baby" (aka Fraidy Cat).  Don't be fooled by his crabby expressions.  He adores this girl too!

A day in the life of an incredibly patient kitty cat whose best friend just so happens to be a creative 5 year old girl named Olivia.
(This photo is so blurry because I could not stop laughing!)
Even after all of that, he stuck around for more.

We have been playing a lot of games the past few weeks.
Our games of choice are Payday, UNO, Disneyland, Candyland, and Battleship.
Scott introduced Andrew to Risk.
He is now officially consumed with this game.
I introduced Andrew to RACKO. Let's just say that he is NOT officially consumed with this game!
Even these two critters have learned to get along (well...kind-of) this snowy winter.

Fraidy loves you Olivia!
He is your cuddle companion.
This is the picture that I saw on Saturday morning. This is what happened seconds later. However, you are such a morning gal. I am pretty sure that you consider this the perfect wake up call!

The Vacation's Over

The thieves have finally returned our Fraidy!
Doesn't he looked thrilled?
Maybe...it has something to do with the pink flower that Olivia decided he must wear.
(This is the most lovable, easy-going cat EVER!) Welcome Home D! We missed you!

A Vacation for D

Today is a miserable, sad day at the Holman house.
We have decided to put our home up for sale, and my parents agreed to take Fraidy (a.k.a. D) for a few weeks.
The kiddos had a REALLY hard time coping with the idea of him vacationing at Ma and Pa's house.
There were a lot of tears.
After Ma and Pa left with D, Andrew ran into the kitchen and said, "I am calling 9-1-1. Our cat has been stolen!" Let's just say....this fat cat is already enjoying the peace and quiet at Grandma's house!
Don't look for his photo on a milk carton!
