Hot Shot Star

Last week, Andrew attended his second basketball camp for the summer.  He loved every second that he spent playing competitively against boys his same age.  He came home on Thursday super-de-duper excited to tell me that he won the Hot Shot Competition for the 3rd grade boys scoring 43 points.  I love his excitement for this sport and the determination that he has to continually improve.  His dedication and hard work are definitely paying off.  

At this rate, he might just be playing for his beloved MIZZOU in 10 years.

This morning I decided to upload all the photos that were on my camera.  Fun, fun!

 Olivia is playing her first season of soccer.  She is super excited.  With that said, she loves her uniform and new pink cleats.

 Several nights ago, Olivia asked if she could read her favorite portion of scripture.  She started reading, stopped, and asked if Scott could help her with a few words.  The words were "sexual relations".  I just so happened to have the camera focused on that very moment.  It was a hoot!

 Olivia's birthday present (19 Kids and Counting Season 5) finally came in the mail.  She has been in TV heaven.  I have been channeling my inner Michelle Duggar a little more too.

 Andrew picked these glasses out of the treasure box at school.  He has been wearing them constantly.  Watch out Clark Kent.

 Scott and Andrew tiled our back splash this weekend.

 Scott decided that it is far time that these two learn how to swallow pills.  It didn't go so well.  They ended the "teach your child to swallow pills" session by practicing with tictacs.

Basketball, Andrew's Bestest Sport

 Our Saturdays have been focused on this fella and his bestest sport, basketball.  He decided after last year's Upward season that he wanted to play in a more competitive league.  With that said, this season he played for the local school league and absolutely loved it.  It was much more competitive, and he shined both as a player and as a leader.  We were so proud to watch him lead his team.

I never thought that I could be so excited to watch a sporting event.

Month of Thankfulness-Day 8

I am thankful for football.

Football:

-brings an extra sparkle into my little man's eyes.

-gives me a reason to purchase cute stocking hats.

-is a definite connection point for the men in my life.

-is a fall staple. 

-is a perfect excuse to drink hot chocolate while snuggled up in a cozy quilt with this sweetie.

-is a constant conversation topic with Andrew.

-is a sport that I am struggling to fully understand.

-is going to be an integral part of the rest of my life.  My kiddo loves it...therefore, I will love it too!

So...What is an interception?  Exactly what does the tight end do?  Is there a yellow flag?

We had a crazy busy, fun weekend. While the boys were at a Cub Scout meeting, O and I went shopping for the perfect dress for the Daddy/Daughter Dance. On the way to the mall, she drew a picture of the dress that she was hoping to find. We didn't find an exact match, but we did find a dress that she loves. In fact, she really didn't want to take it off.

We also had the privilege of serving at the Upward carnival.  Scott twisted lots and lots of balloons, and I painted just as many adorable faces.  O surprised Scott by twisting this cute giraffe.  He was extremely proud of her perfectly proportioned twists.  I on the other hand adored the hand-drawn face.

I love full weekends spent with my favorite people.  

The Upward Basketball season officially started this morning.  A's team is definitely the season's underdog.  They are the young AND small team.  With that said, basketball is A's game.  I was amazed at how great he played.
We are having unusually beautiful weather for January, and Sweet Scotty decided to get a little coaching in this afternoon.  Trust me....this team is going to need A LOT of great coaching and encouragement.
